Flat Ribbon

Electrónica Pantera manufactures Flat Ribbon assemblies in a number of configurations.

The base ribbon cable is available in extruded or laminated versions with discrete wire, twisted pair, variable twist and variable pitch designs. Cables may be folded to shape for easy installation. Custom harnesses are available mating ribbon cables with discrete wires, cables or multiple ribbon cables.

These cables may be terminated to a variety of connector systems. High speed automated termination is available for some product families. IDC connectors with or without pull-tabs are the most common but Pantera also offers ATA, DIN and Mini-DIN, Sub-miniature D, and other industry standard connectors for custom applications.

Often the assemblies need additional protection in the application. Tubular sleeves or nylon braid is common but customer specific solutions are our specialty.

Pantera metal stamping resources allow us to offer our customers, assemblies fully installed on plates and brackets for faster box builds and installation at fabrication.

New high performance interconnect products are becoming more active in the marketplace as well. U160 and U320 SCSI, Serial ATA among others are requiring more sophisticated manufacturing and testing technologies. Electrónica Pantera has excellent product offerings and engineering support in all product areas.

Molded

Electrónica Pantera manufactures custom overmolded assemblies to our customers’ specifications. Careful consideration is given in the design and manufacturing processes to weight, strain relief, functionality and form factors. Our customers have the option of selecting many different materials and processes to meet their application needs. Pantera uses AUTOCAD and LT in the design process to ensure that we meet our customers design requirements for form, fit and function. Our MOLDFLOW Software ensures reliability in the manufacturing process at the design stage.

Custom applications require flexibility in design and manufacturing. Pantera offers customers direct overmolding, pre-formed boots, plastic and metal backshells, as well as low-pressure polymer molding. We employ a variety of shielding techniques to meet the most demanding specifications to include soldered copper tape, metalized backshells and machined backshells. When pre-molding is required, Pantera offers direct molding, metal and plastic cans, and low-pressure polymer resin molds.

Often the overmold is required to protect sensitive electronic devices attached to the cable and connector. PCBs, terminators and equalizer circuits are typical of such devices. At Pantera we design solutions that consider durability, heat dissipation and functionality as we develop options for our customers.

Harness Assemblies

Electrónica Pantera manufactures discrete wire harnesses for applications in computer, business machine, imaging, white goods and many other industries. Our harnesses use UL and CSA recognized wires and components. Statistical process controls assure our customers of compliance with all specifications and reliable applications in the field.

Standard products are manufactured to exceed customer specifications and are rugged and durable. Our SoftFlex harnesses are ideal for those applications where confined space or movement requires a more flexible product. Our standard products and SoftFlex product lines are available with 90C and 105C temperature ratings. Chemical resistant versions are also available. Pantera’s VisionMate harnesses include high performance coaxial cables for today’ numerous multimedia applications.
